Kevin M. Butler
Kevin M. Butler focuses his practice on counseling small and midsize businesses and individuals on business succession and estate planning, real estate, startup, growth, dispute resolution, asset purchases and sales, business regulation, partnerships and employment matters. In addition to maintaining his broad private practice, Kevin has served as law director to the cities of Lakewood and Brooklyn, Ohio, and is able to leverage his experience as general counsel to employers of more than 600 employees on his representation of private clients.
Also of counsel to the respected multistate firm McDonald Hopkins LLC, Kevin practices in all Ohio courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Kevin has served as an attorney with a respected firm focusing heavily on real estate, commercial and construction matters. He was a staff attorney in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, advising the court on hundreds of unique lawsuits.
A graduate of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Miami University and St. Edward High School, Kevin has lectured at several continuing education seminars, including courses on residential construction cases, zoning matters, mediation techniques and lawyer ethics. He authored an article for the journal of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association on the airtight settlement of lawsuits. In 2015 he was named by Crain's Cleveland Business as the government attorney of the year for his work as Lakewood's chief lawyer.
Kevin is a past president of both the Northeast Ohio Law Directors Association and the Cleveland-Marshall Law Alumni Association, as well as a member of the St. Edward High School President's Advisory Council. He was twice elected to Lakewood City Council and has been involved in a number of community and pro bono activities, including work with the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and service as a director of the Lakewood Hospital Association, Seeds of Literacy, one of the nation's foremost adult literacy and equivalency-training programs, and Chaplain Partnership, an ecumenical agency providing spiritual care services in hospitals and long-term care settings. Kevin and his wife, Catherine, have a daughter and live in Lakewood.

Geraldine J. Butler
Of Counsel
Geraldine J. Butler brings to her practice the benefit of a comprehensive legal experience, from work in a multinational law firm to service in the courts, from civil case work representing major industrial clients to criminal courtroom advocacy on behalf of individuals.
Gerri is skilled in comprehensive tort and contract litigation, dispute resolution and related advocacy on behalf of a variety of business clients and individuals. Her work is wide-ranging: She has served as counsel to global product manufacturers in toxic-tort litigation, for example, and has served small businesses in a capacity similar to that of general counsel, handling everything from workers' compensation to employment matters to sales and leasing. She also represents individuals in state and municipal criminal court proceedings and offers estate planning and representation among her practice areas.
Gerri's work includes representation of entities and individuals in public and private compliance and regulatory matters. She was chosen as one of the few persons nationally to sit on the NCAA Committee on Infractions, which investigates and hears cases involving college and university athletics.
Prior to entering the private practice, Gerri was a judicial staff attorney in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. She received her juris doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her undergraduate degree from John Carroll University. She is licensed to practice in all Ohio courts.
